In light of recent events that have affected the Dorchester Community and the City of Boston, the Dorchester Day Parade Committee has decided to postpone the 10K Cocktail$ and Ca$h Golden Gala from this Friday, April 19 to May 24, 2013. This is a time for grief and reflection as we all pray for the families of this tragedy to find peace. 

The 2013 Dorchester Day Parade Committee Essay Contest is now open. The contest is open to all Dorchester children in the 6th through 8th grades or any 6th through 8th grade student that attends a Dorchester
school.  Thanks to the Dorchester Reporter for sponsoring this event, two prizes will be awarded to the winning essays that are chosen from a panel of local judges.  All students that enter the contest will receive an award certificate. The entry and essay must be postmarked by May 20, 2013 to be considered for a

The 2013 Little Miss and Young Miss Dorchester Contests have been scheduled and rules and registration forms are online at the Dorchester Day Parade website. Visit the parade website at www.dotdayparade.com and click on the "Parade Forms" tab. Both events are scheduled on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00p.m. at the First Parish Church. The church is located on top of Meetinghouse Hill at 10 Parish Street. On the day of the contest Little Miss Contestants must be 7-8-9 years old and Young Miss Contestants must be 10-11-12 years old. Come One, Come All, Dorchester residents to campaign to be the next honorary Mayor of Dorchester. The Dorchester Day Parade Committee is looking for a few good neighbors to compete for the bestowed title as the honorary Mayor of Dorchester.

This year IS the year to compete and win! Candidates will have the chance to receive the coveted Mayor’s medallion, be the mayor of Dorchester for one year and will have the respect and thanks of his or her neighbors. The Mayor will also have the honor to march at the front of this the 50th continuous parade on Sunday, June 2, 2013 and will be invited to participate in all of the Dorchester Day events for 2013.

Due to the blizzard, the February 2013 meeting of the Dorchester Day Parade Committee that was scheduled for Monday, February 11th will be held on Monday, February 18th. The meeting takes place in the breakfast room of the Comfort Inn located at 900 Morrissey Boulevard at 7:00 p.m.  Meetings are open to all, so please stop by and become a supporter of the next parade.
